Here's my P1 with its Cold War adversary, the Makarov PM. the standard 115 grain target stuff you see at Wal-Mart. I recommend shooting 124 grain FMJ 9mm loads through this pistol vs. These pistols are also listed as Curios and Relics by the BATFE, so if you have a 03 FFL you can have them shipped directly to your door and bypass the middleman and background checks. I also paid $320 for mine a year ago and in my opinion, that's a fair price for a piece of Cold War history. It's not my favorite pistol, but whenever I need to really practice pistol basics like sight alignment and trigger squeeze, I pull it out. I tend to shoot a bit low with Walthers, and this one is not an exception. Many P1s have a reinforcing steel 'hex pin" in the frame to provide additional strength. So the P1 is lighter, but not quite as strong. The main difference between the P.38 and the P1 is that the P1 has an aluminum alloy frame vs. For those who don't know, the P1 is the post-WWII version of the famous Walther P.38 that the Germans issued to their troops. The ones on the market now are in very nice shape and have mostly been sitting in storage for some time.
