Waterfall development means you code a feature set until it is ready for deployment in the next code level release. Also, today's software development is AGILE based and not waterfall. I think Cisco shops should get used to this because the code base is not Cisco owned. IOS bugs were less frequent than the bugs we get with Linux based code. I know 2960S is already end-of-support and 3750X is not far away (October 2021), but I am not going to sacrifice stability for something shiny and keeps me up all night.Īs far as I am concerned, IOS-XE requires four times MORE "management time" compared to plain-ole IOS that runs on 2960S and 3750X. We are hanging on to them with our dear life. We have, however, >800 stacks of 2960S and 3750X. So far, only one TAC "center" is closest. ![]() For the sake of "fairness", the TAC Cases are all opened on different time zones. ![]() I currently have NINE (9) TAC Cases revolving around switches (plural) crashing 16.12.4. SMU patching for the PoE/SNMP issue did not help and our stacks need to be rebooted every four weeks or else they eventually crash. Stacks crashing, PoE and SNMP issues and a few other more. Fixed one bug but we ended up with more than 12 TAC Cases. Several TAC cases recommended going to 16.12.4. ![]() Our 3850/9300 were all on 16.9.5 until they hit a bug which caused them to crash. I have been around to have seen people constantly making this kind of complaint for decades.
